The National Domestic Workers Congress convened earlier this month in New York City, providing participants with 4 days of dialogue and action around ensuring fair labor practices for all. Launched last summer at the US Social Forum, the Congress includes several HSF grassroots partners, such as the Domestic Workers United, CAAAV, P.O.W.E.R. and CASA de Maryland. Press coverage of the recent Congress highlights a few of their stories: “Domestic Workers Organize to End an ‘Atmosphere of Violence’ on the Job” by Cara Buckley and Annie Correal of the New York Times, “Domestic Workers Unite” by Lizzy Ratner of The Nation, and “Domestic workers sue, lobby, organize for workplace rights” by Evelyn Nieves of Associated Press.
