Nonprofit Capacity Building in the District

The District of Columbia’s Office of Partnerships and Grants Development has welcomed a new cohort of community leaders to its Strengthening Partners Initiative (SPI). Catering to the leadership of nonprofit organizations serving District residents, SPI offers workshops on a wide range of important topics, e.g., strategic planning, board development, human resources, and financial management. Participants commit a minimum of 2 days per month over the course of a year and work with coaches provided through SPI to design and deliver a presentation demonstrating the impact of the program on their respective organizations. Over 100 community leaders have graduated from SPI in its 6 year history. The 2006-2007 class included HSF grassroots partner, the Peaceoholics.
